Job summary

Medal.tv in New York seeks a Global Controller to own US accounting, reporting, and compliance end-to-end—from day-to-day bookkeeping to technical GAAP calls, tax filings, and audits.

You will lead audits, monthly closes, and tax coordination across US and international jurisdictions, driving automation and process improvements with a lean, AI-enabled finance function.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience including Big 4 / public accounting.
• Mastery of US GAAP and strong US + international tax knowledge.
• Experience leading audits and the monthly/quarterly close.
• Proven ability to build automated finance processes.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced startup with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own US accounting, reporting, and compliance end-to-end from day-to-day bookkeeping to GAAP calls and audits.
• Lead month-end close, revenue recognition, accruals, capitalization, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate auditors across jurisdictions and manage tax filings (US and international).
• Automate scalable finance processes across accounting, billing, payroll, and reporting.
• Provide dashboards and variance analyses for strategic decisions.

• As Global Controller, you'll own US accounting, reporting, and compliance end-to-end - from day-to-day bookkeeping to technical GAAP calls, tax filings, audits, and the processes that make us more efficient every quarter
• You'll move fluidly between living in the ledgers, leading month-end close, automating workflows, and coordinating auditors across multiple jurisdictions. We need insane attention to detail, mastery of US GAAP, and strong US + international tax knowledge - someone who raises the bar on quality while helping us move fast

You run US federal and state corporate tax plus international tax - quarterly estimates, filings, cross-border entity structures, and transfer pricing - coordinating external advisors and staying ahead of regulatory changeYou thrive autonomously in a fast-paced startup - comfortable with ambiguity, extreme attention to detail, happy in the weeds.
