The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer of Det-Tronics, the Global Controller will lead accounting activities for the business. This role combines rigorous financial stewardship with strategic partnership across key stakeholders including our Parent, Spectrum Safety Solutions, CFO and Controller, Sales, Operations, and R&D teams. The position is based at our international headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations across all legal entities and operations.
  • Provide comprehensive, accurate monthly financial updates to senior management and the parent entity.
  • Ensure an effective and efficient monthly financial close and manage a successful year‑end audit.
  • Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies, financial controls and guidelines.
Key tasks
  • Establish and drive strategic vision and priorities for the company’s financial reporting function.
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Lead the monthly review of individual reporting units’ financial submissions.
  • Assist in the preparation, review and presentation of the monthly performance reports.
  • Identify opportunities for and drive organizational initiatives to support process improvements.
  • Coordinate with the head of Financial Planning on ongoing and ad hoc requests from Det-Tronics leadership, Spectrum Safety Solutions and the private equity sponsor for financial information.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of global accounting policies.
  • Assist with business development activities and related financial diligence and purchase accounting activities.
  • Ensure all statutory reports in local GAAP and local filings are completed accurately and filed on time.

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 10+ years of accounting and finance experience with global companies, including 5+ years at a large US audit firm preferred.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, with an ability to direct annual audit procedures and address technical accounting matters.
  • Working knowledge of US and international tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Experience with financial consolidation package; strong understanding of Microsoft Excel.
