Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced Legal and Compliance professional to join its Office of Business Integrity & Ethics (OBIE) as the Compliance (OBIE) Business Partner. You will provide clear and actionable analysis, guidance and counsel on a broad array of strategic and tactical projects, reporting to the Executive Director, Senior OBIE Partner Global/US.

The role requires strong knowledge of US and international anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws, including the AKS, FCA and FCPA,

Qualifications

• 8-10 years post-JD experience providing legal counsel in biotech/pharmaceuticals.
• Outstanding ability to communicate sound advice to both lawyers and non-lawyers.
• Expert knowledge of FDA/Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act; False Claims Act; AKS; OIG guidance; PhRMA Code.
• Demonstrated commitment to Compliance, ethics, and accountability.
• Ability to travel on an as-needed basis.
• Law degree and legal experience required.

Responsibilities

• Advise Global and US business colleagues on initiatives balancing strategy with legal and compliance risks.
• Serve as the Compliance representative on leadership and cross-functional teams to drive risk-based decisions.
• Collaborate with OBIE Training and Communications on trainings and communications.
• Maintain knowledge of current laws and educate business colleagues with tailored communications.
• Help establish standards and procedures to ensure an effective compliance program.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with Legal, HR, Internal Audit, and other functions.
• Support continuous improvement of the Global Compliance Program.
