Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned procurement professional to strategically manage commodities and supplier relationships worldwide, driving cost reductions while ensuring quality and compliance.   • Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing techniques and strategic supplier concepts.
  • Ability to assess market dynamics and supply risks.

  • Strategically manage assigned commodities and products worldwide.

  • Champion supplier development and quarterly business reviews.
  • Define and communicate commodity strategy.
  • Ensure procurement complies with regulations and standard practices.
  • Evaluate suppliers to improve service levels and total cost.
  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements and focus on high inventory turns.
  • Optimize the supply chain from suppliers through customers by reducing lead time.
  • Lead cross-functional teams on quality, price, inventories, and material availability.
  • Report supplier and commodity market analysis and monitor trends.
  • Participate in supplier quality audits and maintain supplier scorecards.

Job description

  • Strategically manage assigned commodities and products worldwide
  • Work with cross-functional teams and own commodity strategy, supplier relationships, and supplier performance
  • Manage execution of sourcing strategies to reduce total material acquisition cost, improve revenue and gross margin, align the supply base, enhance product quality, and reduce risk
  • Champion supplier development and quarterly business reviews
  • Define and communicate commodity strategy
  • Ensure procurement complies with applicable regulations, laws, and standard practices
  • Evaluate current and new suppliers to improve service levels, total cost, and efficiency
  • Negotiate Master Supply Agreements and focus on high inventory turns
  • Optimize the supply chain from suppliers through customers by reducing lead time
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional teams addressing quality, price, inventories, and material availability
  • Report supplier and commodity market analysis and monitor trends
  • Participate in supplier quality audits
  • Own and update supplier scorecards
  • Track, report, and reconcile material price variation to financial teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 6 years’ experience in strategic sourcing, supplier quality or operational management
  • Ability to travel both domestic and internationally, up to 30% of the time
  • Demonstrated skills in cost reduction and bidding techniques
  • Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing techniques, including strategic supplier concepts
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of supplier contracts, product conformity, quality tool box, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Ability to assess critical market dynamics, industry assessments, and competitive landscape for engines
  • Ability to identify market and supply risks/liabilities and develop contingency plans
  • Ability to track, report, and reconcile EPPV and APPV to financial teams
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • ERP knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of different metal fabrication processes
  • Previous experience with commodity management
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement, Six Sigma concepts and methodologies
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP
