Job description

Global Business System Program Management, Associate Director

Johnson Controls is seeking a Global Business System Program Management Associate Director for the Business System Portfolio & Deployment Team. This role helps coordinate global Business System activation, sustainment, and support intake across Lighthouse sites, hub sites, and scale-up efforts.

Role Overview

You will lead planning, governance, and coordination for worldwide deployment activities, ensuring work moves from readiness through activation, hypercare, sustainment, and scaling in a consistent and repeatable way. The role connects Business System leaders, process owners, site teams, executive sponsors, regional teams, and enablement partners so priorities stay aligned, progress stays visible, and execution stays actionable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the integrated global activation roadmap for Lighthouse and hub sites.
  • Coordinate readiness, installation support, hypercare, sustainment, and scaling activities across participating workstreams.
  • Facilitate activation planning sessions, milestone reviews, and governance meetings.
  • Track risks, dependencies, decisions, issues, and countermeasures, and drive timely follow-up.
  • Forecast resource requirements and align cross-functional support to keep deployments on track.
  • Build, maintain, and improve activation artifacts, templates, standards, training, and deployment guides.
  • Capture lessons learned from implementations and apply them to future deployments.
  • Partner with Business System leadership to assess and prioritize Lighthouse and deployment opportunities based on strategic and readiness criteria.
  • Prepare executive review materials, activation updates, steering committee content, and portfolio status reporting.
  • Support 30/60/90-day sustainment reviews and follow-up actions after activation.
  • Establish and govern readiness gates and criteria for deployment and adoption.
  • Help measure and sustain adoption of Daily Management, Standard Work, Visual Management, Problem Solving, and other Business System elements.
  • Coordinate the global Business System support intake and prioritization process for coaching, facilitation, and training requests.
  • Maintain integrated action plans and master schedules across global business process leaders, workstream leaders, capability teams, and regional deployment leaders.
  • Coordinate training events, immersion experiences, workshop logistics, and facilitator development activities with Learning & Development and Business System leaders.
How You Will Do It
  • Keep the portfolio visible and organized by maintaining clear roadmaps, milestone plans, and status reporting that help leaders make informed decisions.
  • Stay close to the work by coordinating readiness, activation, sustainment, and scaling activities with the people doing the deployment.
  • Use disciplined governance to surface risks, dependencies, and issues early, then drive decisions and follow-through with clarity and accountability.
  • Build simple, repeatable methods that can be transferred across sites, regions, countries, and business units without adding unnecessary complexity.
  • Work as one team across executive sponsors, process owners, regional teams, and enablement partners to remove obstacles and keep momentum moving.
  • Improve every day by using lessons learned, intake trends, and execution feedback to strengthen templates, criteria, and deployment practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, program management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading global or multi-regional program management, deployment, or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong ability to manage roadmaps, milestones, dependencies, risks, and action tracking across multiple workstreams.
  • Experience creating executive-ready updates, portfolio reporting, and governance materials.
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating cross-functional discussions, prioritization reviews, and decision-making sessions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to build structured workflows, templates, and operating rhythms that support consistent execution.
  • Experience supporting adoption, sustainment, or capability-building efforts in a business or operational environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Lean or continuous improvement methods, including Daily Management, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Problem Solving.
  • Experience managing intake and prioritization workflows for business support requests.
  • Experience supporting learning programs, role-based capability development, or workshop facilitation.
  • Familiarity with Lighthouse, hub-and-spoke deployment models, or similar multi-site scaling approaches.
