Job summary

Baker & McKenzie seeks a business immigration attorney to join the Employment & Compensation Practice Group in our Chicago (preferred) or Washington, D.C. office to work on U.S. and global immigration matters.

This is an off-track associate attorney position. The candidate must have 1–3 years of US business immigration experience, be admitted to the Illinois or DC bar, and provide a writing sample. Base compensation ranges $140,000–$155,000 annually for Illinois locations, bonus eligibility

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of US business immigration experience required.
• Must provide a writing sample and be admitted to and in good standing with the Illinois or Washington, DC bar.

Responsibilities

• Draft and assemble employer sponsored visa petitions, including NIV and IV petitions, RFE responses, and motions.
• Support the PERM Labor Certification process.
• Prepare first drafts of client communications for day-to-day counseling.
• Track and analyze client documentation for evidentiary standards in NIV/IV cases.
• Use internal case management tools to manage multiple assignments.
• Stay current on agency guidance, policy changes, and evolving immigration law.
