Job summary

Nexteer Automotive is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Controls & Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of advanced machine control and automation systems.

The role sits in Saginaw, MI, with travel expected as needed. You will collaborate across Manufacturing IT/OT, Operations and Engineering to advance Nexteer's digitization and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience with machine control systems and operator interfaces.
Strong working knowledge of machine control and automation systems.
Strong working knowledge of Rockwell Control Systems and Operator Interface Systems.
Experience with API, MES and other manufacturing operation systems.
Experience integrating motion control and robotics into automated systems.
Knowledge of IEC/ISO/ANSI industrial machinery standards.

Responsibilities

Direct and approve machine controls systems designs including safety systems and motion control.
Promote emulation, virtual commissioning, digital twins and AI tools to shorten development time.
Collaborate with IT/OT, Operations and Engineering to support Nexteer's digitization strategy.
Develop and implement Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing technologies.
Provide technical direction and oversight with global Manufacturing Engineering teams.
Develop and maintain Nexteer global design standards and guidelines.
