Job summary

Aquent is seeking a skilled Garment Technical Designer to join our client’s team in San Francisco. You will translate designs into precise specifications, manage fit and construction, and collaborate with vendors to ensure brand standards are met.

You will influence cross-functional partners, drive cost-aware prototyping, and ensure consistency across product lines while supporting sustainable and inclusive fashion development.

Qualifications

• A general understanding and practical application of garment construction, patternmaking, alterations, and grading.
• Well-versed in Fit, Construction, and Quality standards.
• Strong understanding of brand, customer, and cost requirements.
• Understanding of relevant product lifecycle management or tech pack management systems.
• Ability to assess relatively complex situations and analyze data to recommend effective solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to be a strong collaborator and influencer.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and execute design aesthetics through consistent fit and construction, aligned with customer needs.
• Collaborate and influence cross-functional partners and vendors effectively.
• Translate design concepts into detailed specifications for costing and first prototypes.
• Leverage fit strategies and maintain overall customer fit consistency across products.
• Troubleshoot and communicate fit issues promptly and clearly.
• Provide valuable input on fit & construction risk management strategies.
• Ensure both physical and digital samples comply with brand standards throughout the product creation process.
