Job summary

Zoetis seeks an Associate Director, Global Animal Behavior to lead enterprise behavioral science, advance welfare across sites, and translate science into practical programs that improve welfare and data quality.

The role directs a team of three technicians and one scientist, partnering with veterinarians, IACUCs, and Global Animal Welfare leadership to set standards and drive measurable impact on research outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in animal behavior science in a research setting.
• Expertise in behavioral welfare assessment, enrichment, and positive reinforcement.
• Experience providing specialist consultation to veterinarians and research teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as global SME in animal behavior and welfare science; provide strategic direction enterprise-wide.
• Develop and maintain the scientific framework for welfare assessment and stress reduction across sites.
• Translate research into organizational programs and standards; represent expertise in governance forums.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three behavior technicians and one behavior scientist; ensure cross-site consistency.
• Drive data-informed methodologies to identify, measure, and reduce stress and behavioral variability in research animals.
