As part of EC Young Learners, including our sister brand Embassy Summer, we have been successfully delivering outstanding summer camp experiences to young people for over 45 years. Each year we welcome thousands of students onto our award-winning and quality-accredited programmes across the globe.

Role Summary

Our Activity Leaders work as part of a wider residential team and are at the forefront of supporting and delivering the non-academic elements of our programme successfully. Our activity leaders also help to carry out important pastoral care duties and take on the role of guardian to a small group of students, looking after their well-being, guiding and mentoring them during their stay with us.

Activity leaders provide instruction, guidance and coaching to the students, whilst ensuring all activities are delivered to provide a safe, secure, and tolerant environment in a proactive and engaged manner.

Activity leaders work 6 days out of 7 across a number of sessions that total 42 hours per week. This is a residential role and we provide full board accommodation as part of the contract.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Promote and safeguard the welfare of students for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact in line with your guardian and safeguarding training.
2. Lead, supervise, motivate & engage students on activities and trips and during their stay with us.
3. Ensure adequate preparation & set up for on/offsite activities and prepare, plan & lead students on excursions.
4. Ensure the activities and excursions operate to the highest standards of relevant health & safety and safeguarding practices.
5. Assist our Senior Tutor and other Tutors where required on subject matter excursions.
6. Maximise student satisfaction by ensuring their Global Achievers Academy experience exceeds their expectations.
7. Assist in day-to-day general duties as instructed by the management team.
8. Carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision as requested and as per the rota.

Essential Criteria:

1. Minimum age 18+ and educated to minimum A-Level / High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to deliver engaging, creative and impactful activities.
3. Fluency in English.
4. Excellent organisational skills.

Desired Criteria:

1. Experience of working with young people age 13-17.
2. Experience of working in a residential environment, ideally in a summer school / camp.
3. Experience of working with non-native speakers of English.
4. Valid First Aid Certificate.
5. Specialism in sports coaching, drama, or dance.

Training & Induction:

We provide both online and face-to-face training for all employees. We provide a compulsory staff induction and all employees are required to take our basic Level 1 safeguarding training. Our activity team will also be required to take the English UK Activity Leader Training course, which we provide free of charge.

Working Week:

1. 6 days out of 7 (1 day off per week).
2. 42 hours per week.

The job holder will be expected to operate in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters.

Employees are required to cooperate fully with all arrangements in place related to Health and Safety which include implementation and compliance with control measures resultant from risk assessments and engagement with, and completion of, any relevant Health and Safety training.
