The Texas General Land Office is seeking a Program Specialist VII within the Office of Communications of the agency.
The Program Specialist VII performs highly advanced (senior level) consultative services and technical assistance for the Office of Communications of the Texas General Land Office (GLO). Work involves providing delivery of communication services and documentation for the department, agency, and Commissioner. Coordinates, collects, organizes, and prepares relevant information for briefing binders, playbooks, talking points, and keynote speeches for the Commissioner. Leads the review of the GLO messaging ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the GLO. Provides technical and external relations support to GLO programs during peak periods. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs other duties as assigned.
What Your Contributions to the GLO Will Be:
Minimum Qualifications:
A college degree in English, communications, or journalism and/or at least two years of experience writing, blogging, reporting, or compiling research for an organization or company.
A writing sample is required.
A timed writing test will be required if interviewed.
This position requires the employee to primarily perform non-sedentary work; mobility (moving around the work-site) is routinely required to carry out some duties including extensive moving upon and traveling across uneven surfaces, rough terrain, and/or desolate areas. The position also requires normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies.
