Job Summary
Performs waived and moderate complexity testing according to CLIA '88 guidelines in one or all of the following fields within the Clinical Laboratory: Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation and Microbiology. Also performs high complexity testing under the supervision of the department supervisor or a Medical Technologist. May perform QC and QA as assigned by the supervisor after competency is demonstrated. Duties also include certain clerical tasks and related laboratory services.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A minimum of a two-year diploma or equivalent in any biological science or chemical science from an accredited/approved educational institution and successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Technology training program which includes Blood Banking (Immunohematology), Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology; OR A minimum of a two-year diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology which includes Blood Banking (Immunohematology), Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology.
Certification as an MLT by the ASCP or AMT within 6 months of hire.
