Job summary

The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block seeks a Glasser Curator to develop new research and exhibitions on American West and North American art. You will steward the permanent collection and collaborate on policy, collections management, and content creation for diverse audiences.

Reporting to the Chief of Curatorial and Convergent Practice, this role advances outreach, grant proposals, and partnerships to support exhibitions and educational programs.

Qualifications

• MA or PhD in art history or related field; at least seven years museum experience.
• Extensive knowledge of art of the American West and North America.
• Familiarity with professional collections management standards and provenance research.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison to staff, researchers, and the public regarding the permanent collection.
• Expand, refine, and conduct research on the permanent collection.
• Assist with collection management policy, strategic collecting plan, and CMS data entry.
• Contribute curatorial insight to exhibitions, bilingual interpretive materials, and living artists.
• Prepare acquisition justifications and documentation for Collections Committee.
• Develop long-term exhibition strategies and co-curate rotations of the permanent collection.
• Advance education and engagement through programming and partnerships.
