Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace US LLC is seeking a Glass Polish Machine Operator for the 5th shift. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining polishing, lapping, and grinding equipment, with strict quality checks on ground parts.

You will handle glass pieces on polishing tables, measure parts to within tight tolerances (.0001), and ensure adherence to safety and lean practices. Training of another operator may be required; this position is on-site in a fast-paced machine shop.

Qualifications

  • 2 year relevant work or equivalent education or vocational training.
  • Dexterity to set up and operate miscellaneous equipment.
  • Must work with coolant and oil materials.
  • Must wear safety glasses with side shields.
  • Average to heavy weight lifting required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate and maintain machines such as grinders and polish tables following prescribed procedures and standard shop practices.
  • Handle glass placed on polishing tables to grind down.
  • Measure parts to ensure they meet specifications (±0.0001) and monitor rate of removal.
  • Use judgement to set up machines, make and check parts, report troubles to Group Leader/Supervisor for analysis.
  • May train another operator.
  • Engage in Safety & Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and Knowledge Sharing.

Job description

Glass Polish Machine Operator - 5th Shift (Finance)

A Machine Operator will Set-up, operate and maintain miscellaneous machines and perform required checks to maintain quality.

This role will support 5th Shift Hours: (not including any mandated overtime)

  • Monday & Friday - 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday & Sunday - 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
TYPICAL MACHINES/EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED
  • Polishing machines, Lapping machines, and Grinding machines
TYPICAL CHEMICALS USED
  • Epoxy Soda, Water soluble oils, Standard cutting oils, Cleaning solvents, and Chlorethene
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be willing and able to work in a "work cell" environment and dedicated to high quality of work.
  • Machine Shop working environment.
Responsibilities
  • Somewhat diversified work to set-up and operate and maintain such machines as grinders and polish tables, following prescribed procedures and/or standard shop practices.
  • Work with handling glass that is put on polishing tables to grind down.
  • Measure parts to make sure they are with in our specs (.0001s) and understand the rate of removal of polishing.
  • Judgement to set up machines, make and check parts to maintain quality standards and to report troubles to Group Leader and/or Supervisor for analysis and remedy.
  • May be required to train another operator.
  • Embrace and engage in the activities, but not limited to Safety & Behavioral Observation Process (BOP), 5S, Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), Tiered Accountability Process, Standard Work, Rapid Problem Solving (RPS), Built In Quality (BIQ), Coaching, Total productive Maintenance (TPM) and Knowledge Sharing.

Hourly Pay Range

The hourly range for this position is $33.52, not including any applicable shift differential. Please note that this compensation information serves as a general guideline.
