Job summary

The Corning Museum of Glass seeks a Collections Handler to carefully move, pack, mount and prepare objects for exhibition, research or photography. You will maintain galleries and monitor the condition and safety of collection items while supporting diversity and accessibility initiatives.

Responsibilities include moving objects, soft packing for offsite photography, cavity packing for travel, and installing exhibitry. Requires experience in object handling and a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of related experience in object handling, mounting, packing, or related areas.
• Experience with mounting and exhibit installation processes.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on ladders/lifts.
• Knowledge of art history is a plus; museum setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move collection objects and record location changes to Registration.
• Soft-pack objects for offsite photography or storage.
• Cavity-pack objects for safe long-distance travel.
• Prepare and install objects and exhibitry for exhibitions and displays.
• Maintain galleries, exhibitions and storage areas; perform daily inspections.
