As a GIS Technician, you will have the unique opportunity to provide critical geographic data, information, analytics, and solutions to support PGE's business operations. You will create and update geospatial data, maintain spatial relationships, and apply cartographic standards to ensure accurate and reliable mapping of our electric system. A successful candidate will have intermediate knowledge of geospatial systems and business unit operating processes, coupled with working skills in customer focus and project management. You'll be at the forefront of utilizing cutting-edge GIS technology to support PGE's goals in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing clean energy usage.
Key Responsibilities:
Checks maps against field data and revises data as changes occur.
Works with field personnel and work order posters/as-built updates to assure timely and accurate spatial data is entered and maintained in MicroStation and GIS environments.
Maintains electric system database and templates. Creates and compiles feature geometry and attributes and solves common data alignment issues.
Responds to questions from customers or other technicians about processes and maps.
Develops and runs spatial queries and special reports. Formats reports and data to meet user needs. Obtains data from multiple sources and combines to meet user needs.
Education, Experience, & Certifications:
Requires an associate's degree in geography or geomatics or equivalent experience or coursework.
Require two or more years in GIS or related field.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
Functional Competencies
Working knowledge of ESRI ArcMap 10.x.
Basic understanding of Scheider Electric ArcFM.
Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro 3.x.
Intermediate knowledge of geospatial systems, information and data.
Intermediate knowledge of business unit operating processes.
Working knowledge of data maintenance principles.
Basic knowledge of system interface protocols, web tools and database concepts.
Working skills in customer focus.
Basic skills in enterprise/business awareness.
Working skills in analysis and problem solving.
