Job summary

A well-known construction company is seeking a GIS Intern Technician to support GIS mapping, analysis, and field data collection using a drone. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in GIS or a related field and involves working closely with the GIS Analyst. Strong skills in software applications such as ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD are necessary. This position is based in Sacramento, CA, and offers a flexible contract arrangement.

Qualifications

• 1 year’ experience as a GIS Technician or equivalent.
• Ability to learn to operate computer aided surveying and GPS systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct GIS research involving literature searches, data evaluation, and acquisition.
• Implementation of database including training, data entry, and documentation.
• Provide and create digital and hard copy data.
• Maintain and update files in the GIS library.
• Performs analysis on new and existing properties.
• Provides mapping services for all departments within the company.
• Surveying, including but not limited to using the GPS.
• May operate the drone including setting flights, operating, and downloading data.

Skills

Knowledge of ArcGIS Pro

Proficiency in Word and Excel

Ability to operate GPS systems

Research skills

Education

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in GIS, Geography, or related field
