Job summary

Actalent in Birmingham, AL seeks a contract GIS Analyst to input, update, and maintain geospatial data for electric distribution infrastructure in an ESRI GIS.

You will create detailed maps, validate data, and integrate field data from GPS/mobile sources to support engineering and operations. Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro is a plus and CAD knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field; GIS certificate preferred.
• At least 2 years of full-time GIS work experience required.
• Power distribution knowledge a plus.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software required; ArcGIS Pro is a plus.
• MS Office proficiency; CAD experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Input, process, and maintain GIS data for Alabama Power distribution assets.
• Create and update maps and schematics of the electrical grid.
• Perform quality assurance and data validation.
• Incorporate field GPS/mobile data and resolve data discrepancies.
• Provide GIS support for planning, outages, asset tracking, and reliability studies.

Description

Input, processing, and maintenance of Alabama Power Distribution Lines and Equipment assets in an ESRI GIS database.Asset Data Management: Collect, input, and maintain accurate geospatial data for electric distribution infrastructureincluding poles, transformers, conductors, switches, and meterswithin an ESRI-based GIS system.Map Creation and Updating: Produce and update detailed maps and schematics of the electrical grid to support engineering, operations, and field crews. Ensure maps reflect current field conditions and planned changes.Quality Assurance and Data Validation: Perform regular audits and validations of GIS data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.Field Data Integration: Collaborate with field personnel to incorporate GPS and mobile data collection into the GIS database. Reconcile discrepancies between field observations and existing GIS records.Support for Engineering and Operations: Provide GIS analysis and mapping support for planning, outage management, asset tracking, and system reliability studies. Assist in modeling and visualizing network changes or expansions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
