OVERVIEW:

The Maine Office of GIS team is seeking a motivated IT professional to lead technical teams, work with Maine business clients to design, maintain, and support ESRI applications, and embody our C.A.R.E. values.

The ideal candidate will serve as the lead system administrator for the State’s ESRI-based GIS, with extensive experience in deploying enterprise GIS solutions, including remote desktop deployments, mobile GIS, enterprise and ArcGIS Online portals, and role-based user management.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Administer the State’s Enterprise ArcGIS infrastructure, collaborate with GIS users and developers, and support the deployment of GIS applications within our secure IT environment.

Sample tasks include:

  • Manage enterprise GIS and MEGIS geodatabases on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Develop scripts, models, and tools for GIS support.
  • Design architecture for emerging GIS technologies.
  • Install, configure, and maintain GIS software and geodatabases.
  • Support GIS components, data services, and applications per industry standards.

Employees are expected to work at a high technical level with limited supervision.

WHAT WE EXPECT?

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience with:

  • Team collaboration.
  • Deploying ArcGIS Enterprise in Windows Server/Azure Cloud environments.
  • Managing ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Maintaining ArcGIS Pro and related applications.
  • Diagnosing system issues.
  • MS SQL Server / Oracle RDBMS administration.
  • ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE administration.
  • Geoprocessing tools and scripting.
  • Web application development with ArcGIS Online.
  • Geospatial data types.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • System testing and evaluation.
  • Working with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Capturing and translating business requirements.
  • Working independently with initiative.
  • Organizational skills and handling multiple projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 6 years of combined post-secondary education, certifications, or related work experience. Related training or internships may be credited proportionally.

The selected candidate must pass background checks, including fingerprinting if required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions.
