Job summary

Personnel Board of Jefferson County is seeking a well-qualified Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist. The role analyzes GIS data for infrastructure, planning, data analysis, and asset management using ArcGIS applications and related tools.

The position involves developing/altering GIS databases and coordinating thematic layers with multiuser relational systems. Responsibilities include system documentation, user guides, on-site administration, and training staff to ensure compliance

Qualifications

Experience as GIS Tech II or equivalent in Merit System.
Experience maintaining GIS databases and performing spatial analysis.
An Associate degree or higher in GIS or related IT field or GIS certificate.

Responsibilities

Provide service to internal/external customers.
Analyze GIS data using ArcGIS to identify spatial relationships.
Verify accuracy of geospatial and tabular data to ensure up-to-date GIS information.
Create and maintain GIS databases and map layers.
Produce and distribute data layers, maps, and reports as required.
Conduct training to share knowledge of processes and systems.
