The City of Battle Creek, MI seeks an intermediate GIS Technician to update and maintain the city's GIS, create maps for all departments, and support users. Under limited supervision, you’ll contribute to data quality, cartography, and spatial analyses to assist City operations.

The role involves field surveys, data preparation, and producing GIS products while supporting internal and external users. A Bachelor's in GIS or related field and ESRI/GPS experience are required.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree with coursework in GIS, geography, engineering, or related field and at least one year of experience working with GIS including.
• Experience working with ESRI software and GPS hardware. Data collection preferred.
• Special Requirements: Valid driver's license in the State of Michigan.

Performs intermediate technical work updating and maintaining the City's Geographic Information System (GIS) including creating various features and maps for all city departments, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the GIS Manager.

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, bending, reaching, hand dexterity (grasping, holding, keyboarding, repetitive movements), reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, color, depth, field of vision), hearing, using the telephone, contact with government officials and the general public, and working inside and alone. Work can require exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is done in a variety of noise conditions.
