Job description

Mott MacDonald is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our water and wastewater GIS team. In this position, you will work closely with project team members to assist in the collection, design, creation, and maintenance of geospatial data.

Responsibilities:
  1. Produce spatial and non-spatial data while ensuring technical accuracy and logical consistency in data processing and outputs.
  2. Produce high-quality geospatial products by employing cartographic principles, industry standards, and custom solutions.
  3. Identify and solve technical problems under supervision.
  4. Conduct field data collection using GPS and mobile technologies.
  5. Daily activities include:
    1. Utility and municipal data entry and corrections
    2. Conducting GIS analysis
    3. Generating GIS deliverables
    4. Supporting customer GIS needs
    5. Conduct field data collection
    6. Support asset management activities
    7. Conduct courthouse research to gather relevant data and information for projects.
    8. Assist with right-of-way acquisition when needed
    9. Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to read and speak English.
  • Demonstrable competence with ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Collector, Survey 123, ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Suite, GPS technologies.
  • Experience or education related to ArcGIS Enterprise, AutoCAD, Microstation, and basic programming/scripting using Python and Javascript are beneficial.
  • Must be very well organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and apply previous instructions to current tasks.
  • Possess excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Outgoing, forward-thinking, effective communicator, and energetic.
  • Passion for GIS technology and current GIS trends, with the ability to apply them to projects.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Background in environmental and natural resources, forestry, and project management.
  • Experience working with underground utilities and asset management.
  • Notary Public.
  • ESRI Certifications.
