Play a key role in one of the nation’s most important geospatial efforts by contributing to the U.S. Geological Survey’s ongoing development of The National Map.

As a GIS Applications Developer, you'll help design, develop, and maintain advanced geospatial systems that support the creation and delivery of topographic products used by agencies, emergency responders, and the public. You'll work with Python libraries like ArcPy and GDAL within a modern DevOps environment, focusing on automation, scalability, and data integrity through CI/CD pipelines. This role combines software engineering and geospatial expertise to deliver reliable, high-performance applications supporting national planning, public safety, and environmental initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis, mapping, and geospatial data processing.
• Strong understanding of spatial databases for storing and querying geospatial data.
• Proficiency in Python geospatial libraries such as ArcPy and GDAL for automating workflows and data management.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) for automated testing and deployment.

Desired:

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for GIS environments.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services supporting geospatial applications and data pipelines.
• Experience with ArcGIS Server for publishing and managing GIS services.
