Job summary

Appalachian Regional Commission is seeking a GIS Analyst to support data, mapping, and evaluation tasks within the Research and Evaluation Division. You will collect, manage, analyze, and visualize geographic information to inform ARC’s strategic plan and program investments.

The role requires 1–3 years of GIS experience, a bachelor's degree, and ability to travel up to 10%. Located in Washington, DC, in-office with five days on-site.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of research methods and quantitative analysis.
• Familiarity with statistics and social sciences.
• Proven knowledge of GIS mapping software (ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online) and data processing.
• Experience presenting complex analysis and results with data visualizations.
• Adept research methods and tools to improve reporting and GIS workflows.
• Solid project management with timelines and deliverables.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and communicate clearly.
• 1–3 years of GIS experience.
• Background security review completed prior to hire.
• Willingness to travel ~10% with valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Support ARC Research and Evaluation team with data, GIS mapping, research, and evaluation tasks.
• Assist in collection, management, analysis, visualization, reporting, and dissemination of geographic information.
• Collaborate with GIS Manager and team on projects across stages of implementation.
