Title: GIS Analyst IV

Incorporated in 2011, North Wind Resource Consulting's core capabilities include environmental documentation and permitting; natural and cultural resource surveys; wildlife and botanical expertise; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) technical services; historic and prehistoric surveys; environmental consultation such as Section 106 for cultural resources, Section 404 for wetlands, and Section 7 for endangered species; and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping capabilities. North Wind Resource Consulting maintains offices across the country.

Position purpose: The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst designs and implements GIS applications and integrates databases to compile geospatial data that can be used to make decisions and solve problems. Surveys physical geographic spaces, imports data into mapping software and analyzes the information to create digital maps. Develops visual diagrams and prepares analysis reports on geographic trends. Updates outdated maps, transposes data from source documents to GIS format, and maintains the accuracy of geospatial data.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining and updating GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Utilizing GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, or other relevant platforms.
  • Working with other professionals, environmental scientists, and Archaeologists, to integrate GIS data into their projects.
  • Create and upload files to GPS units to support field crews. Download and process GPS data to integrate into GIS platform.
  • Be familiar with North Wind GIS procedures and templates
  • Complete mapping requests.
  • Report on metrics and analyses.
  • Participate in client meetings.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Assist in Enterprise Portal GIS Administration
  • Assist in AGOL Administration
  • Creating cultural resource maps and other visual representations of geographic data to communicate findings and support decision-making.
  • Monitor workflow for incoming GIS requests and manage backlog and due dates
  • Support Remediation Resources in report figures and applications
  • GIS application development
  • QA/QC of junior GIS analyst's output
  • Mentor junior GIS analysts as needed
  • Work under direct supervision of senior GIS analysts and supervisors with some independency based on skills and experience
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems or other relevant discipline
  • 11-15 years of experience

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to understand client needs and decide how best to display GIS data.
  • Strong data management skills, including the ability to efficiently integrate large amounts of GIS data into pre-defined schemas.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to independently balance multiple project priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance from project manager and GIS technical lead.
  • Ability to manage time and adhere to schedules
  • Experience in administering Enterprise GIS Portal & AGOL
  • Experience creating viewsheds and slope analysis data

Special Requirements:

  • Must pass background check
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and experience creating content in ArcGIS Online/eGIS Portal, including hosted features, Web Apps, Dashboards, and StoryMaps.
  • Experience using cultural resources data and creating professional report maps
Physical Demands

Position is primarily sedentary in nature, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. The work may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This role requires the ability to work extensively utilizing a computer screen and keyboard.

Working Environment

Works mainly in a typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
