Job summary

Town of Windsor is seeking a GIS Analyst I to join the IT Department. You will handle data preparation, basic geoprocessing, and map creation, while supporting GIS users and contributing to project tasks.

The role requires 2–3 years in GIS and a related degree; experience with ArcGIS and Trimble GPS is preferred. Generally Mon-Fri, on-site with on-call duties; compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• Two to three years related experience in geographic information systems, information technology, public works, planning or urban economics; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college preferred
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Mobile apps, AutoCAD, PYTHON, ARCADE, SQL or similar
• Experience using Trimble GPS hardware and related tools
• Experience managing GIS applications on Windows and TCP/IP networks

Responsibilities

• DATA: determine data for uses; mine and prepare data; edit in geodatabase and other formats; QA/QC; perform queries and automated manipulations.
• ANALYSIS: perform basic geoprocessing and spatial analysis; produce descriptive summaries; research methods.
• MAPS: create and maintain static and interactive maps; design cartographic products that are clear and informative.
• REPORTS: create dashboards and reports; develop internal presentations.
• DOCUMENTATION: develop methodology docs; adhere to data standards and workflows.
• INFRASTRUCTURE: troubleshoot GIS hardware/software; support GIS users and propose solutions.
• PROJECT MANAGEMENT: create basic project docs; gather requirements; manage workload and communicate with customers.
• USER SUPPORT: diagnose and resolve end-user problems; provide training on system usage.
