Position: GIS Research Analyst
Type: Hourly contract
Compensation: $50–$60/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 15–20 hours/week (potential to extend)
Role Responsibilities
- Craft high-quality, real-world geospatial analysis problems to support AI model training.
- Design tasks involving zoning databases, parcel data extraction, and spatial data retrieval from government GIS portals.
- Create clear, structured evaluation rubrics to assess AI agent performance on geospatial tasks.
- Apply domain expertise in GIS, urban planning, and spatial analysis to ensure technical accuracy and relevance.
- Collaborate asynchronously with domain experts and research teams to refine task design and validation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with GIS platforms and government spatial databases (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, USGS, Census Bureau).
- Strong background in spatial analysis, geospatial data science, or urban planning workflows.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong English proficiency.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, research-driven environment.
