Job description

Hamden Hall Country Day School seeks a Girls' Varsity Soccer Head Coach to oversee all aspects of team and player development, game strategy, and program leadership. The coach will serve as a role model for student-athletes by teaching skills and techniques, planning practices, and motivating players to develop both individually and as a team. Responsibilities include developing strategies, maintaining records, and building a team of confident, successful student-athletes.

Essential Job Functions

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive soccer program emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
2. Create overall sports strategies, mentor players, develop training drills, and promote sportsmanship.
3. Instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategies, and physical conditioning.
4. Foster a positive, inclusive team culture based on respect, growth, discipline, and leadership.
5. Collaborate with Admissions and the Athletic Director to recruit and retain top talent, including evaluating, visiting, and recommending prospective student-athletes.
6. Support athletes in their recruitment process by communicating with college coaches.
7. Assist athletes pursuing collegiate athletics, if applicable.
8. Work with the Athletic Director and School leadership to uphold the school's athletic mission and values.
9. Manage game-day operations, including lineup decisions and in-game coaching.
10. Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
11. Provide off-season soccer programming to attract potential new players.
12. Maintain equipment and facilities.
13. Keep accurate and timely records, documentation, and follow-up.
14. Represent the school at coaches’ events.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
