Job summary

The Tabor Academy in Marion, MA seeks a proven Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach to lead its program, oversee staff, recruit nationwide, and aid collegiate placements. This position is part-time with potential for a full-time alignment based on candidate skill sets and school needs.

The successful candidate will model leadership for student-athletes, collaborate with the Athletic Department, and build relationships within the lacrosse community to promote excellence on and off the field.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience as a Girls’ lacrosse coach, High School, College, or Club.
  • Preferred: Experience in secondary or post-secondary institution; experience as a Head Coach.
  • Preferred skills: Proficient and adept to using Microsoft Teams and HUDL.

  • Act as a confident, strong role model and leader for high school student-athletes.
  • Gaining the respect and trust of student athletes, parents, and coaching colleagues.
  • Work with the Athletic Department and league members in Girls’ lacrosse for scheduling and film exchanges.
  • Collaborate with Admissions to meet prospective players and families at showcases.
  • Develop practice plans, game prep, and innovative strategies; use film to improve play.
  • Represent Tabor Academy at ISL and NEPSAC meetings and manage 20+ student-athletes.

Job description

Tabor Academy in Marion, MA seeks a proven, dedicated, and enthusiastic coach to lead its Girls Varsity Lacrosse program. The Head Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach will oversee all girls' lacrosse programming, oversee coaching staff, recruit lacrosse players nationwide, and facilitate collegiate recruitment.The Head Coach should be a collaborative educator looking to continue and add to Tabor Girls' Lacrosse high level of competitiveness in the Independent School League (ISL).

The best boarding school head coaches develop the young people in their programs and the adults on the coaching staff. The program leader should have principles that align with the school’s mission, the athletic department’s mission, and the mission of the ISL. The successful candidate should have strong relationships within the Girls and Women's lacrosse community in the ISL, around New England, and within the collegiate lacrosse ranks. The head coach should have a clear vision for the future of the program. The Girls' Lacrosse program will promote a strong team culture and the pursuit of excellence on the field and off the field.

This position is part-time, but there is an opportunity to align with the school to possibly form a full-time position depending on candidates’ skill sets and the needs of the school.

The successful candidate will:

Act as a confident, strong role model and leader for high school student-athletes always, gaining the respect and trust of the student athletes, parents, and coaching colleagues

Have a background of coaching at the collegiate/high school/club lacrosse levels

Bring experience of practice planning, game preparation and strategies; using film and knowledge of the game

Possesses excellent management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships

Model inclusion when welcoming new student-athletes; Respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity, inclusion and belonging, and cultural competency in all aspects of school life

Work with the Athletic Department and league members in Girls’ lacrosse for scheduling, film exchanges, etc.

Collaborate with the Athletic Department to ensure all Girls’ lacrosse programmatic needs are met

Represent Tabor Academy at all ISL and NEPSAC Girls Lacrosse Meetings

Serve as the head coach of 20+/- student-athletes

Collaborate with the Admissions Office and meet with prospective lacrosse players and their families, work to identify and attract strong players at showcases and within club lacrosse programs

Work closely with the College Counseling office to strategize and assist student-athletes with the college process when student-athletesare being recruited; Developing and maintaining professional contacts with collegiate coaches and programs at all levels are instrumental in supporting Tabor Student Athletes

Meet with student-athletes throughout the academic year; provide professional development feedback for coaching staff

Evaluate athlete performance and provide real-time suitable feedback

Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously

A strict adherence to confidential policies is required

Work closely with the strength and conditioning, athletic training and nutritional teams for specific programming, injury reporting, rehabilitation, and other health and safety needs

Work closely with the equipment manager to make sure all equipment needs are met, and the equipment is properly fitting and safe; Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, and technologies relevant to the sport

Qualifications:
