Job summary

The St. James in Springfield, VA is seeking a part-time Girls Travel Basketball Coach to develop players through structured instruction and team practices.

You will work with the Director and other coaches to organize sessions, runs drills, and supervise athletes during games and showcases on-site at our Springfield flagship location. Successful candidates will have 2+ years coaching experience, ability to travel for events, and a strong work ethic with excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of coaching experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
• Ability to travel out of state for games/tournaments.
• Collegiate playing experience and certifications are a plus.
• Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
• Great customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coach and instruct athletes, both individually and in groups, using appropriate basketball developmental instruction.
• Assist the Director of Girls Travel Basketball and other coaches with organizing and supervising athletes in connection with practice, games, combines, and showcases.
• Lead or assist practices.
• Attend games for the team(s) you work with.
• Assists with administrative duties.
• Help maintain equipment and supplies.
• Develop and sustain positive relationships with athletes, families, and guests of The St. James.
• Supporting the safety of all members, guests, and employees.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Knowledgeable of safety training, procedures and best practices used throughout the sports and wellness industry.
