SALARY RANGE: $27-35 hourly

SUMMARY

The part-time Girls L.E.A.D (Learning Empowerment through Athletic Development) Sports Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination & development of the Girls L.E.A.D program. They will collaborate with both the Sports Program Manager and Sports League Manager to deliver program outcomes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop a variety of Girls L.E.A.D programming initiatives (clinics, workshops, partnerships, etc…) for NYE participants and staff.
  • Coordinate & communicate programming opportunities to NYE stakeholders.
  • Develop, create, research and promote relevant resources related to the Girls L.E.A.D program (i.e. curriculum, professional development).
  • Promote and market the Girls L.E.A.D program to increase awareness, participation, and impact.
  • Collaborate with the Leagues’ team to increase opportunities for girls to participate in NYE Sports Leagues. This includes leading Girls L.E.A.D leagues on Saturdays in partnership with Sports League Coordinators.
  • Coordinate and/or purchase supplies needed for events.
  • Led and/or assist with in-person & virtual site support visits and professional development for Girls L.E.A.D programming across all NYE sites within the five boroughs.
  • Be liaison between New York Edge After-School Program Directors, Program Managers and the Sports & Wellness Department.
  • Assist in other department-wide Sports & Wellness events as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Sports & Wellness and/or Sports Program Manager.

Required Skills:

  • Passion for New York Edge mission and youth development.
  • Reliable, organized and punctual.
  • Knowledge of effective sports, health & fitness programming for female participants.
  • Strong leader and team-builder.
  • Ability to use a variety of computer based programs such as Google Suite, Adobe, Canva & LeagueApps.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions, while exhibiting strong character traits & exercise patience & creativity while seeking win-win scenarios.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including remotely from home an in-person at our Woodside, Queens main office or at an event location.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals, applying tact and discretion as situations demand.
  • Must have excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills.
  • Responsible and professional conduct that serves as a role model to staff and youth.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required; Some college preferred.
  • 1-3 years of work-related skill, knowledge & experience.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Preferred experience with NYCDOE or Public School System.
  • Strong communication skills (presentation and written), leadership abilities, flexibility and outstanding problem solving skills.
  • Must have the ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of NYC.
  • Must be able to work 25-29 hrs/wk.
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays during league programming.

At time of offer and acceptance, the job requires safety and security clearances through the Department of Education and Department of Health.
