  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IHSA and NFHS rules applicable to the assigned sport.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and communicate practice schedules and game/competition needs with the Athletic Director.
  • Develop and maintain safe practices and competition environments in line with district policies.
  • Maintain equipment/uniform inventory and assist with equipment purchases as needed.
  • Oversee program funds, fundraising, and annual budget in accordance with district policies.
  • Ensure health, safety, and welfare of student-athletes per IHSA/NFHS guidance and district procedures.
  • Maintain team records and statistics; mentor student-athletes in sportsmanship and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, administration, officials, and transportation staff.
  • Participate in professional development and adhere to district athletic handbook requirements.

Head Coach

Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching

Location: Dakota Jr/Sr High School

Compensation Range: $3,988-$5,185

Purpose Of The Position: To assist and guide student-athletes in developing athletic skills, discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and citizenship while promoting a safe and positive learning environment. The coach is responsible for administering the assigned athletic program in accordance with IHSA, NFHS, District #201 Board Policies, and the District Athletic Handbook.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  • Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate.
  • Works with the Athletic Director to secure facilities that provide a safe and secure environment for practices and competitions.
  • Plans, organizes, and communicates practice schedules, competitions, and program needs with the Athletic Director.
  • Develops, communicates, and maintains practice and competition schedules.
  • Communicates effectively with student-athletes, parents, administration, officials, transportation staff, and other stakeholders regarding program expectations and schedules.
  • Maintains equipment/uniform inventory annually.
  • Annually recommends equipment purchases to the Athletic Director.
  • Assists with fundraising activities and manages program funds in accordance with District policies, as assigned.
  • Ensures the health, safety, and welfare of student-athletes by following District, IHSA, and NFHS policies regarding supervision, injury prevention, emergency procedures, and risk management.
  • Manages the orderly distribution and collection of uniforms and sport-specific inventory.
  • Ensures that all student-athletes meet District and IHSA eligibility requirements, including physical examinations, fees, academic eligibility, code of conduct expectations, and other Athletic Handbook requirements.
  • Models and mentors student-athletes by instilling the values of sportsmanship, citizenship, teamwork, leadership, and respect.
  • Provides appropriate supervision during practices, competitions, locker room activities, and team travel.
  • Maintains team records, statistics, and other program documentation as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional learning and sport-specific development to maintain current coaching knowledge and best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Building Principal.
Minimum Qualifications

Working Conditions

Requires moderate in-district travel and occasional in-state and out-of-state travel for competitions. Work includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular hours during the athletic season.

Performance will be evaluated by the Athletic Director and/or Building Principal in accordance with District policies and procedures.
