Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks a Coach for Girls JV/Assistant Varsity Basketball at Point Pleasant High School for the 2026/2027 school year. A WV teaching certificate or WVSSAC-ASEP certification is required.

You will train players, supervise practices and games, enforce school rules, and manage equipment and eligibility lists. Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, awards, and collaboration with the athletic director and principal.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: Valid WV teaching certificate or certified through WVSSAC-ASEP.

Responsibilities

• Training varsity basketball team students in the skills needed to compete in basketball.
• Help supervise varsity basketball team students at practice sessions, basketball games and during travel to and from scheduled events.
• Ensuring school rules and policies are enforced during supervision.
• Submitting to the athletic director an eligibility list of all participants in the varsity basketball program.
• Distributing basketball equipment to varsity basketball team students and collecting it during the season.
• Prepare and submit an inventory of equipment at season end.
• Assist in determining the budget for the varsity basketball program, securing officials, and scheduling competitions.
• Make recommendations for awards and recognition of participants.
• Consult with head coach regarding extra-curricular duties.
• Attend conference meetings, award banquets, clinics, tournaments, and professional meetings when possible.
• Scouting opponents to determine capabilities, techniques, and strategies.
