Job summary

Wayne County Schools Employment Network is seeking a dedicated Athletics/Coaching staff member for Wilson Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. You will plan practices, supervise athletes, and develop game strategies while emphasizing safety and skill development.

The role requires strong communication, knowledge of sport rules, and the ability to foster an ethical, safe environment for all student athletes. Occasional travel for competitions may occur.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Prepare and conduct team practices, training, and competition.


• Supervise student athletes at before, during and after practices and competitions, including during transportation to and from contests until all athletes are with parents/guardians.


• Possess knowledge of sport, skills and techniques from fundamentals to game planning and strategies appropriate to the level of competition.


• Possess knowledge of rules of sport and ability to relay and enforce those rules to student athletes.


• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and possesses the ability to work with student athletes and communicate with parents.


• Create a physically and emotionally safe environment for student athletes.


• Model and teach ethical behavior.


• Ability to perform assigned duties.
