Job summary

The Assistant Coach’s primary responsibility is to assist the MSSD Girls Basketball Head Coach with the development and implementation of an exemplary athletic program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student-athlete.

You will facilitate skill development, prepare training programs and game plans, ensure safety and compliance with DCSAA, PVAC, and NDIAA, monitor eligibility, communicate with players and parents, and foster positive community relations through

Qualifications

• Knowledge & Experience in Basketball
• Basketball Coaching Experience
• Knowledge and Understanding of High School Aged Students

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the improvement and development of athletic skills and team performance for Girls Basketball student-athletes.
• Assume the responsibilities of the Head Coach in their absence, ensuring seamless operation of team activities.
• Stay updated on new trends, ideas, and techniques in basketball coaching.
• Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Develop training programs and game plans for the team.
• Ensure compliance with DCSAA, PVAC, and NDIAA regulations.
• Monitor student-athlete eligibility and adherence to standards.
• Establish and communicate team rules to players and parents, ensuring fair enforcement.
• Report injuries and incidents, and maintain safety protocols across all activities.
• Communicate effectively with the school district and community.
• Support fundraising efforts for travel, equipment, and attire.
• Engage in Title IX training and report any concerns as required.
