Carilion Clinic is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (Giles OR) at Pearisburg, VA. This full-time, day shift position supports perioperative care in a fast-paced environment and requires maintaining sterile technique throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required; completed accredited surgical technologist program; CST certification or armed forces allied program qualifies.
• Certification in Surgical Technology required; LPN licensure for grandfathered employees.
• Knowledge of instrumentations and sterile technique; able to provide age-appropriate care across patient lifespans.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains a sterile field; ensures sterile environment.
• Passes instruments safely to clinician during procedures.
• Participates in surgical counts (sponges, needles, instruments) per policy.
• Communicates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and staff to facilitate continuity of care.
• Follows policies, procedures, and patient safety goals; contributes to nursing process for patients of all ages.

Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Or, has successfully completed a training program for surgical technology during the person's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.**Experience**: None**Licensure, certification, and/or registration**: Certification in Surgical Technology required. LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees. Obtain and/or maintain registration with the VA Dept of Health Professions.Other Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of instrumentations. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
