Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Pearisburg, VA seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support perioperative care, maintain sterile technique, and assist surgical teams to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.

The CST establishes sterile fields, passes instruments to clinicians, participates in counts, and communicates with surgeons and staff to facilitate continuity of care in a day shift, in-person Giles OR setting.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited surgical technologist training program.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist required (NBSTSA or successor).
• LPN licensure for grandfathered employees where applicable.
• Knowledge of instrumentations and sterile technique.

Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Or, has successfully completed a training program for surgical technology during the person's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.**Experience**: None**Licensure, certification, and/or registration**: Certification in Surgical Technology required. LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees. Obtain and/or maintain registration with the VA Dept of Health Professions.Other Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of instrumentations. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age and specific needs, and provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
