Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking candidates for the 2027 Gil Herrera Fellowship in Quantum Information Science, a prestigious postdoctoral research and academic fellowship supported by Sandia's Laboratory Directed Research and Development program.

Selected fellows will work with Sandia scientists and partner universities, conducting self-directed research across quantum information science, mentoring students, and publishing results.

Qualifications

• You have completed or are pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Chemistry, or a related science or engineering field.
• A strong record of research publications and presentations is expected.
• A compelling research proposal for self-directed research as a Gil Herrera fellow is required.
• Plans to mentor graduate students or engage in academic outreach through Sandia's university partnerships are expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct self-directed theoretical and/or experimental research in QIS.
• Mentor students and engage with partner universities on research questions.
• Publish results in leading journals and present at top-tier conferences.
