Job summary

Heartwood Community School in Ridgeland, SC seeks a motivated Gifted & Talented Teacher to design, implement, and sustain a high-quality gifted program. You will lead pullout instruction for identified students and build systems aligning with South Carolina requirements.

The role emphasizes inquiry-based, interdisciplinary curricula, collaboration with leadership, and partnerships with families to support twice-exceptional learners and program growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and teaching certification required.
• SC Gifted & Talented Endorsement required.
• Minimum of 4 years of elementary teaching experience, including service to gifted students.
• Experience designing project-based or inquiry-based learning experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and support twice-exceptional learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide pullout instruction for identified gifted students starting in grade 3 in alignment with SC requirements.
• Design inquiry-based, project-based, and problem-based learning experiences.
• Develop enrichment units and ensure vertical alignment across grade levels.
• Develop and support a gifted program including K-2 expansion and program sustainability.
