Qualifications

  • Assist in identification to determine students eligible for the gifted program.
  • Prepare a Written Education Plan (WEP) for each student served.
  • Provide instruction that is differentiated from the standard curriculum above-grade level.
  • Develop, plan, and implement a creative, enriching program per WEP.
  • Collaborate with other classroom teachers and gifted teachers to develop and evaluate the program.
  • Maintain regular communication with principals, teachers, and parents.
  • Maintain student records as required by law and policy.
  • Enforce district policies and rules.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

JOB SUMMARY

The gifted teacher will assist with the identification of gifted students; develop a strong gifted curriculum and implement a sound program of instruction for gifted students. The gifted teacher will share ideas for improving the education of gifted students with others; promote the growth and development of the gifted program; and will provide creative, enriching activities and projects for students enrolled in the program. The gifted teacher will communicate on a regular basis with building principals in the assigned district and with parents of the children enrolled.

Job Requirements
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    Current Ohio State Board of Education intervention specialist teaching certificate/license for gifted education.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Assist in the identification process to determine students eligible for the gifted program
    Prepare a Written Education Plan (WEP) for each student served Provide instruction that is differentiated from the standard curriculum in depth, breadth, complexity, pace, and/or content above-grade level Develop, plan, and implement a creative and enriching program of instruction for each student according to their WEP that requires the maximum use of higher-level thinking skills, problem-solving techniques, and creative thinking skills Collaborate with other classroom teachers and gifted teachers in the development, evaluation, and revision of the gifted education program Provide ongoing and regular communication with building principals, teachers, and parents regarding classroom activities and student progress Work with other gifted teachers to implement in-services and recognition ceremonies as requested by the supervisor Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations Enforce administrative policies and rules governing students
