Qualifications

• New Mexico teaching license in Elementary or Secondary Education.
• Bachelor’s Degree with licensure coursework.
• Passage of required state licensure testing.
• Passage of NM Assessment of Teacher Competency in Elementary or Secondary Education.
• Passage of NM Content Knowledge Assessment in area of specialty.
• Endorsement or license in the area of specialty taught.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Evidence of Leadership Ability.
• Demonstrate Communication Skills.
• Demonstrate Public Relations Skills.
• Finger-print background check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide learning experiences in gifted services and core subjects to elementary students as assigned.
• Instruct students in citizenship and core curriculum as defined by state and district policies.
• Develop instructional materials for verbal and visual learning.
• Identify, screen and determine eligibility of gifted students.
• Develop individual education plans for gifted students.
• Provide individualized and group instruction to meet student needs.
• Maintain standards of student behavior and an engaging classroom environment.
• Communicate with parents via conferences, notes, emails, calls.
• Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for student needs.
• Create engaging displays and learning centers.
• Utilize technology as an instructional tool where appropriate.
• Maintain attendance and school records as required.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in district and school programs.
• Participate in school events outside the traditional day (Open House, etc.).
