Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health is hiring a GI Technician to support endoscopic services across our NJ facilities. You will prepare rooms and equipment, handle endoscope maintenance, and assist physicians and nurses during procedures.

Requires GI tech or patient care experience, ability to learn IDX/EPIC, and strong customer service. Flexible scheduling and weekend/weekday call are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • GI tech experience and/or patient care experience.
  • Must be able to learn IDX and EPIC applications.
  • Strong customer service skills; some desk duties may be required.

Responsibilities

  • GI Technicians prepare rooms and equipment before endoscopic procedures and clean up and sterilize after procedures.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies for endoscopic procedures.
  • Ensure equipment functions properly.
  • Prepare waiting and recovery rooms or procedure suites.
  • Maintain endoscopic equipment including cleaning, disinfecting and calibrating instruments per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Transport patients according to medical personnel instructions and assist physicians and nurses during procedures.
  • Attend training to refresh or enhance skills.
  • Collect specimens from patients.
  • Collaborate with other care providers regarding procedures and patient conditions.
  • Stay current on endoscopy developments by reading literature and networking with colleagues.
  • Assist with Business Office Support duties; may be trained on EPIC and front desk registration & copay collection.

Short Description

Some of the primary duties that GI technicians perform include:

  • GI Technicians prepare rooms and equipment before endoscopic procedures and clean up and sterilize after procedures
  • Maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies for endoscopic procedure
  • Ensuring equipment functions properly
  • Preparing waiting and recovery rooms or procedure suites
  • Maintaining endoscopic equipment, including cleaning, disinfecting and calibrating instruments according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Transporting patients according to medical personnel instructions- Helping physicians and nurses perform endoscopic procedures
  • Attending training as necessary to enhance or refresh skills
  • Collecting specimens from patients
  • Collaborating effectively with other care providers regarding procedures and patients' conditions
  • Staying current on endoscopy developments by reading literature, speaking with colleagues or participating in professional organizations
  • Assists with Business Office Support duties and will be trained to EPIC applications and front desk registration & copay collection
Experience Required
  • GI tech experience and/or patient care experience (medical assistant, patient care technician, etc.)
  • Must have the ability to learn IDX and EPIC applications
  • Strong customer service skills preferred, some desk duties required
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
License/Certification Requirements
  • Current NJ-BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
Special Requirements
  • Minimum 3 shifts per 6 weeks
  • Flexible schedule; weekend and weekday call
