Job summary

UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA is seeking a casual Nursing Assistant to support the GI Lab. Candidates currently enrolled in nursing school or with direct patient care experience are preferred.

Responsibilities include direct patient care under the RN, assisting with activities of daily living, safety and cleanliness, delivering nourishments, taking vital signs, and documenting in the medical record. This role provides hands-on clinical exposure in a busy GI lab setting.

Qualifications

• Candidates currently enrolled in nursing school or having previous work experience in direct patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the supervision of the RN, including activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting and ambulating patients.
• Maintains a safe, clean environment, completes safety checks, cleans equipment, changes linens and keeps hallways clear.
• Assists with supplies and equipment, orders and stocks patient rooms and unit supply areas.
• Delivers nourishments, fills water pitchers and distributes patient mail.
• Performs nursing assistant core tasks: blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care.
• Provides feedback to the RN regarding patient care and reports changes in patient status.
• May apply, monitor and remove patient restraints per protocol.
