Job summary

St. Charles Health System in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist Hospitalist to join our inpatient GI team. This role focuses on hospital-based gastroenterology with a strong support system and collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
• Gastroenterology fellowship training completed or in progress.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology.
• Inpatient hospital experience required.
• Possesses Oregon medical license or able to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and management.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures: EGD, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, capsule endoscopy, ERCP, EUS.
• Evaluate and manage acute GI disorders and emergencies.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, emergency medicine providers, and specialists.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and disease prevention.
• Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation.

St. Charles Health System is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist Hospitalist to join our growing Gastroenterology team in Bend, Oregon. Join a highly respected team providing specialized inpatient gastrointestinal care throughout Central Oregon. Providers work alongside experienced physicians, APPs, hospitalists, intensivists, emergency medicine physicians, nurses, and procedural support teams to deliver comprehensive care to hospitalized patients.

Practice Highlights

• Inpatient-only GI Hospitalist practice
• Primary practice location at St. Charles Bend Hospital
• Flexible scheduling options, including 7-on/7-off or 14-on/14-off rotations
• Shifts generally consist of 10-12 hours in-house followed by overnight call coverage
• Maximum of 148 annual shifts
• Strong hospital-based support and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Epic EMR system
• Advanced endoscopy opportunities including EUS and ERCP
• Dedicated procedural and nursing support
• Collaborative and collegial physician culture

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and management
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures including:
  • Upper endoscopy (EGD)
  • Colonoscopy
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • Capsule endoscopy
  • ERCP
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Evaluate and manage acute gastrointestinal disorders and emergencies
• Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, emergency medicine providers, and specialists throughout the health system
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and disease prevention
• Maintain timely and accurate medical documentation

Qualifications

Required

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of accredited Gastroenterology fellowship training
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Experience caring for patients in an inpatient hospital setting
• Oregon medical license or ability to obtain
• DEA certification
• ACLS certification

Preferred

• ERCP experience
• EUS experience
• Prior GI Hospitalist experience
• Experience with process improvement and clinical standardization initiatives
