Job summary

The Inova Surgery Center in Alexandria, VA seeks a GI Registered Nurse PRN to support endoscopy procedures, patient care, and teamwork in the GI suite.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, room setup, safety, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the procedure team to ensure smooth, high-quality care for GI patients. Virginia RN licensure and BLS are required; ACLS optional with six-month learning window.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in endoscopy/gastroenterology or related field.
• Strong understanding of endoscopic equipment, patient monitoring, and sedation protocols.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or active multi-state RN license.
• BLS certification required upon start.
• ACLS certification optional and can be obtained within six months of hire as applicable per ASC location.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Exceptional patient communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and verify identity and procedure details.
• Set up procedure room with equipment and supplies.
• Assist in safe patient positioning during procedures.
• Document the procedure and events accurately.
• Serve as liaison between procedure team and other departments.
• Monitor environment and equipment functionality to support procedures.
