Job summary

Parkridge East Hospital is seeking a GI Nurse PRN to join its ER/UOR team in East Ridge. The RN will oversee direct patient care in the procedure room, assist with instrument prep/reprocessing, and guide staff during GI/endoscopy procedures. On-call is required during select non-business hours with a 30-minute response time.

Qualified candidates will hold an RN license, have an Associate Degree, and at least 1 year of med/surg RN experience. GI/Bronchoscopy experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS within 30 days of start date.
• RN (Registered Nurse) licensure required.
• Associate degree or higher required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education on the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification (briefing, time-out, debriefing, universal protocols).
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and support evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with a dynamic interdisciplinary team (providers, surgeons, technologists).
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes throughout the shift.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up measures.
