Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System seeks an Attending Physician for Advanced Complex Endoscopy in Gastroenterology. You will perform and supervise high‑complex GI endoscopy procedures (EUS, ERCP, EMR, ESD, POEM) and contribute to patient care and outcomes.

Requirements include MD/DO, Illinois medical license, 3‑year GI fellowship (ACGME), ABIM GI board certification or eligibility, and 1 year of advanced GI endoscopy experience. Willingness to travel to Cook County Health sites is expected.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school or foreign equivalent required (proof at interview).
• Licensed as a Physician and Surgeon in Illinois prior to start.
• Completion of 3-year GI Fellowship (ACGME) required (proof at interview).
• 1 year advanced GI endoscopy training/experience required.
• ABIM GI certification or eligibility; must obtain within 1 year of start.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and consults for GI patients in inpatient and outpatient settings at CCH.
• Delivers highly specialized care for acute and chronic GI disorders to improve outcomes.
• Performs and interprets advanced GI endoscopy procedures (EUS, ERCP, EMR, ESD, POEM).
• Collaborates with Anesthesiology to implement new endoscopy protocols.
• Provides on-call coverage for the Division of Gastroenterology.
• Participates in education and training of GI fellows, residents, and medical students.
