Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, MO, seeks an Advanced Practice Specialist Nurse - GI to join a high-performing GI clinic. The role combines patient care, leadership, and collaboration with gastroenterologists to manage diverse GI conditions and complex cases.

The APN/PA will assess, diagnose, treat, and assist in GI procedures under physician supervision, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a fast-paced specialty.

Qualifications

• MSN from an accredited nursing program.
• Active RN license in Missouri.
• Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC, AANP, etc.).
• Missouri certification for Advanced Practice (if required).
• Current Collaborative Practice Agreement.
• BCLS certification.
• 3-5 years of hands-on nursing experience.
• Leadership chops and the ability to thrive in a team.

Responsibilities

• Be a clinical leader in GI care across inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
• Collaborate with physicians and specialists to create and carry out treatment plans.
• Perform assessments, order diagnostics, and initiate evidence-based interventions.
• Assist with or perform specific diagnostic/interventional GI procedures (with supervision).
• Provide education and support to patients and families.
• Help shape and elevate the standard of GI care in our organization.
