Job summary

WVU Medicine seeks a GI Advanced Practice Professional to provide inpatient gastroenterology care in Weirton, WV. The APP will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, perform diagnostic procedures, and contribute to discharge planning, while educating residents and nursing students.

This 5-day-a-week position requires RN/APRN licensure and BLS with ALS as needed, emphasizing comprehensive GI/hepatology care within a collaborative clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as an RN and APRN in West Virginia.
• BLS Certification required with possible ALS training at department discretion.
• ARC-PA approved PA training program and NCCPA certification for PA track.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive GI/hepatology patient care post discharge and in ambulatory settings.
• Completes consults, pre-procedure evaluations and integrated assessments.
• Orders tests or consults as clinically appropriate following guidelines.
• Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests.
• Coordinates with GI/hepatology staff for follow-up and disposition planning.
• Educates residents and nursing students as part of the clinical team.
• Documents plan of care and supports multidisciplinary care delivery.
