Responsibilities
- Perform various patient care activities and non-professional services to address patientsulfi lling personal needs and comfort in an environment that promotes dignity and healing.
- Take vital signs and assist with activities of daily living as outlined in the plan of care; participate in hourly rounding and document care rendered per guidelines.
- Assist with nutrition needs as outlined in the plan of care, including meal delivery, tray setup, adaptive equipment, assisting with feeding, and distributing nourishments while honoring patient choices.
- Document per policy and procedure; maintain patient comfort and safety per the care plan and organizational policies.
- Turn and position patients, provide skin care, respond to call lights/alarms, and support safe patient handling and use of assistive devices as needed.
- Support rehabilitation needs as outlined in the care plan (ROM, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment) and document rehab progress per guidelines.
- Identify changes in patient status and report promptly to the nurse; participate in shift changeover with complete and relevant handoff information.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and a patient-centered approach; possess basic knowledge of healthcare and/or nursing assistant roles.
- Provide care appropriate to the age of patients served and apply age-specific care principles for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Qualifications
- Must have BLS required (AHA) or equivalent (through AHA or RQI).
- Minimum high school graduate or equivalent; post-secondary education in health or human services preferred.
- 1-2 years of customer service and/or health-related experience in Med/Surg/ED/ICU preferred; at least 1 year required in some postings.
- Must be able to work through the holiday season; 20-26 week contracts available.
- Entry-level role with basic skills and a willingness to learn.
